FOUR REASONS THE 2018 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE IS THE PERFECT COMPACT CAR
There is fierce competition in the entry-level category and Mitsubishi doesn’t make it any easier by throwing a choice model in the mix. The 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage proves that Mitsubishi, as a brand, is able to cater to its customers’ needs throughout their life journey. As a compact car, the Mirage has a lot to offer with some exceptional features.
NOTHING ENTRY-LEVEL ABOUT THESE OPTIONS
Thanks to three different trim levels, there seems to be a Mirage for every need. The ES is the base model and features many of the exterior features of the other trims in the range, except for the wheels. The SE is the next trim in the range and provides drivers with access to a bit more technology, along with all the other features offered in the ES range. The final trim in the range is the GT which features 15-inch wheels, a GT badge, and heated front seats which are ideal for colder regions. It also happens to include all the other features offered by the SE.
MITSUBISHI PUTS THE NUMBERS OUT THERE
According to the manufacturer, the 2018 Mirage is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid gas-powered car in America. You’ll find the same great economy carrying over in the 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage fuel efficiency. The savings translate differently for the various types of drivers but it all comes down to better budgets for Mirage owners. As far as the numbers under the hood are concerned, all trims feature the 1.2-liter MIVEC DOHC engine. These are 3-cylinder engines that push out 78 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque. The ES trim has the five-speed manual transmission standard, and the INVECS-III CVT as an optional transmission. The other trims have CVT as standard.
TECHNOLOGY FEATURES THAT SET THE BAR
For an entry-level model, the Mirage offers some impressive technological features, such as the 6.5-inch smartphone link display audio system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are available in the SE and GT trims. Bluetooth wireless technology and USB ports are standard across the range. Two of the most impressive features, however, have to be the steering wheel audio and phone controls. Rear heater floor ducts provide some comfort in the cooler months, while automatic climate control ensures the ideal temperature throughout the year in the SE and GT trims.
THOUGHTFUL SAFETY FEATURES
The rearview camera is a standard feature across the range and makes it easier to back out of tricky parking spots. The ES model features remote keyless entry with panic feature, and the SE and GT have the FAST-key passive entry system with push-button start and panic feature. The tire pressure monitoring system and RISE body construction is standard across the range. The active stability control feature is ideal for tricky road surfaces and the hill start assist gives more power on tricky inclines. The SE and GT trims offer cruise control to better manage long, open roads.
The 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage proves why entry-level cars can still offer a decent MSRP, and still come out on top in terms of features.
