How often should you rotate your tires? You most likely know tire rotation is important, but do you know when to rotate tires? Most experts say that every 5,000-8,000 miles is a good rule of thumb, but that’s not true of every type of vehicle.

FWD Car or Truck

  • How many miles to rotate tires: 5,000 to 7,000
  • Front left tire: rotate to rear right
  • Front right tire: rotate to rear left
  • Rear left tire: rotate to front left
  • Rear right tire: rotate to front right

RWD Car or Truck

  • How many miles to rotate tires: 5,000 to 7,000
  • Front left tire: rotate to rear left
  • Front right tire: rotate to rear right
  • Rear left tire: rotate to front right
  • Rear right tire: rotate to front left

4WD Car or Truck

  • How many miles to rotate tires: 5,000 to 7,000
  • Front left tire: rotate to rear right
  • Front right tire: rotate to rear left
  • Rear left tire: rotate to front right
  • Rear right tire: rotate to front left

AWD Vehicle

  • How many miles to rotate tires: 3,000 to 5,000 miles

How Often Should You Rotate Your Tires on a Dually Pickup?

Follow these guidelines for how and when to rotate tires on a dually pickup truck:

  • How many miles to rotate tires: 5,000 to 8,000 miles or every six months
  • Front left tire: rotate to rear left (outside)
  • Front right tire: rotate to rear right (outside)
  • Rear left tire (inside): rotate to front left
  • Rear left tire (outside): rotate to rear left (inside)
  • Rear right tire (inside): rotate to front right
  • Rear right tire (outside): rotate to rear right (inside)
