How to Remove Stickers from a Car

Peeling Sticker Off Windshield

After many daily commutes and weekend getaways, there are many reasons you may want to know how to remove stickers from a car. You may have also purchased a pre-owned vehicle around Port Orange or Ormond Beach after a previous owner who used the car as a platform for all of their opinions. In any case, if you’re wondering how to get stickers off a car, removal is a snap with the correct products. After checking out these tips for sticker removal, contact us for more information!

How to Get Stickers Off a Car Frame

The simplest way to get stickers off the body of your vehicle without causing paint damage is with the following products you can easily find around Palm Coast and Deland:

  • Goo Gone Automotive or Tree sap remover
  • Clean, dry towels
  • Hairdryer
  • Car washing soap
  • Plastic card ( membership card, library card, etc.)

When you’ve gathered all that you need, use the following steps to get stickers off your car:

  1. Use your car wash soap to clean the whole sticker and surrounding space.
  2. Set the hairdryer on hot and hold it roughly two to three inches from the sticker for just a few seconds, ensuring that you cover the whole area with heat, working your way from the inside out.
  3. Once you’ve heated the sticker, use your plastic card to push the edges of the sticker gently. Once you see the sticker residue lifting, you can slowly peel the sticker off. You may need to repeat the heat and peel process, and the sticker may come off in pieces rather than altogether.
  4. You might have a remaining residue layer on the vehicle once the sticker is gone. At this point, you’ll want to know how to remove sticker residue from a car. This is simple with Goo Gone Automotive or tree sap remover and a clean, dry cloth. You can wipe the residue away with gentle pressure until it’s disappeared.

How to Get Stickers off a Car Window

Removing car window stickers is a slightly different process. You can use a razor blade rather than a plastic card, and you won’t need your hairdryer. Just be careful and never use your razor blade inside tinted windows. You’ll need the following products:

  • Hot water and dish soap
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Clean, dry towels
  • Razorblade

With your tools ready, it’s time to get started:

  1. Use your razor blade to peel part of the sticker, then remove it as neatly as possible by hand.
  2. Use your clean towel with the hot water and dish soap mixture to rub the sticker residue until it starts coming off. If it doesn’t come off, try the following steps.
  3. If the sticker residue remains, use a razor blade to scrape the residue off very carefully.
  4. If the residue is stubborn, rubbing alcohol is often a useful last resort. When needed, soak a paper towel in rubbing alcohol and scrub the sticker away using the razor blade. A clean towel soaked in water should be enough to clean up afterward.
